Fujitsu-Siemens to launch Windows Home Server

Last week, we reported on a few Windows Home Servers rolling out of HP headquarters, alongside a few kind words that one analyst had for Microsoft's latest consumer platform. Well, Fujitsu-Siemens may have felt a bit left out at the time but surely they found some comfort in the knowledge that they too would soon release their WHS baby into the world. Behold! The Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo Home Server, the company's first WHS product. It's expected to be announced any day now at the IFA in Berlin but here's what we know so far: the Scaleo will have 4 internal drive bays, four USB 2 ports and two eSATA ports. What's more, it will boast an energy-saving "always-available" mode (as opposed to the standard, energy-sucking "always-on" mode) and will allegedly run "very silent." According to cleverly-named U.K. WHS fansite We Got Served, "The unit will ship with the standard WHS Connector software, and will also be bundled with PacketVideo's DLNA-UPnP server which will allow you to stream your music, photos and videos to a wide variety of networked multimedia devices around the home." Sounds good to me.
