UbiCell uses Internet magic to boost cell signals

We've talked about femtocells here before and while there are probably a number of folks out there who don't like the idea of having a mini cellular tower in their homes, there are probably just as many who are chomping at the bit to get one. If you're part of the latter group, Samsung's upcoming UbiCell might be for you. While it's not technically a femtocell, it does allow you to use your home Internet connection to increase bandwidth to your cellular devices. The little white gizmo connects via 10/100 Ethernet and pumps WCDMA/HSDPA to your carrier through those Intertubes, increasing the quality of your calls. Samsung is still working out deals with the major carriers but in all likelihood, this little guy will start popping up in homes across America before real femtocells make it past regulatory scrutiny.
