Windows XP SP3 RC1 available

Last week, Microsoft made a release candidate of Windows Vista SP1 available to the general public and this week, they’re doing the same with Windows XP SP3. It goes without saying that this is the one that enterprise folks are waiting for, as most enterprises still run XP and are probably looking forward to the security fixes and speed boosts that SP3 offers. If you’d like to get some compliancy testing done before XP SP3 sees a general release (most likely sometime next month), now’s the time, so head on over to Microsoft’s download center and snatch up the first public release candidate of the last ever XP service pack. [Though it should go without saying, this is not final release software and as such, should be installed with caution.]
