BlackBerry, others are security targets

BlackBerry devices just became a bit less secure: Security researchers, who often work in overlapping circles with hackers, recently let loose some exploit code which BlackBerry maker Research In Motion already patched but which many customers haven’t installed, experts say. Pioneers warn of VoIP wiretapping problems

Government-endorsed projects to build VoIP wiretapping could result in harm to the rest of the Internet, concludes a new study led by TCP/IP co-creator Vint Cerf, public-key pioneer Whitfield Diffie and encryption expert Clint Brooks. The study was undertaken on behalf of the Information Technology Association of America. The trio of pioneering computer scientists said it’s too challenging and dangerous to build VoIP wiretapping technology without losing control.
