CrunchGear has a new feature up that might be of interest to anyone planning to head back into a classroom soon: a list of five cheap laptops for college kids. There’s the predictable Apple MacBook (“The ‘Duh’ Pick”), the Dell Inspiron 1420 (“For the color [conscious]”), the Acer Aspire 4710-2013 (“For the savvy shopper”), the Toshiba Satellite P205-S6237 (“Bonkers for big screens”) and the mysterious Everex StepNote SA2053T (“The Ultra-cheap Ultraportable”). Crunch‘s criteria for choosing these lappies was primarily price and it shows–four out of the five machines clock in at under a grand, with the MacBook going barely over. Still, you probably can’t go wrong with any of these…well, okay, except for that Everex one.
