How to: Control multiple machines without a KVM switch
If you’re an IT guy or gal, there’s a good chance that you’ve got a couple of machines sitting underneath your desk. There’s also a good chance that those machines aren’t all running the same operating system. So what’s the best way to seamlessly switch between those machines using the same keyboard and mouse? A fancy (and expensive) KVM switch? Nope. Try the free, cross-platform app Synergy instead and you’ll be switching between machines with only the flick of a cursor in no time.

Whilst Synergy is indeed a neat solution is is not with out a downside. Using it will mean that all of your keyboard and mouse activity will be transmitted across the network. This is why this solution is not allowed in most commercial applications.
