HP on scandal: What scandal?

It was a big year for HP in the news. Now, granted, most of that news was bad, centering on the HP spying debacle that incriminated the company’s board of directors. Yet, somehow, HP marched on, taking down Dell to become the world’s largest PC retailer, making a series of high-profile acquisitions and closing a $300 million deal with Microsoft for enterprise software. On the strength of its server products, HP continues to forge ahead, while its competitors struggle to catch up to the new industry leader. If anything, the HP scandal only showed us how unstoppable the company truly is. One thing is for sure: with a major reorganization at Dell and increased pressure from the likes of Lenovo, HP is going to have to work hard to hold on to its title in 2007.
