iPhone fully unlocked via software hack

Sure, we’ve seen the iPhone get partially unlocked via a SIM trick and we’ve seen it get fully unlocked via a complicated hardware hack but all along, we knew the Holy Grail would be a no fuss, no muss software crack that allowed the phone to enjoy full functionality on other U.S. and international carriers. Well, friends, the time has come: Engadget claims to have witnessed a full unlocking of the device via a software hack. “[R]ight in front of our very eyes we witnessed a full SIM unlock of our iPhone with a small piece of software…we can confirm with 100% certainty that iPhoneSIMfree.com’s software solution completely SIM unlocks the iPhone, is restore-resistant, and should make the iPhone fully functional for users outside of the U.S.” So, when exactly will the software be made available to the general public? That remains to be seen, though here’s hoping that it’ll be sooner rather than later.
