Firefox URL-handling bug patched
July 31, 2007 — 6:59am ET
Firefox fans will likely recall that last week, a URL-handling bug, which originally surfaced in June, came back to haunt the open-source browser. At the time, a spokesperson for the Mozilla Foundation pledged the bug would be addressed quickly and sure enough, Mozilla has stayed true to its word. The newly-released version 2.0.0.6 of Firefox/Thunderbird fixes this vulnerability once-and-for-all and also addresses a yet unpatched privilege escalation bug. Firefox users are strongly advised to download the fix, either via Firefox's built-in auto-update or through the website GetFirefox.com.
