Rumor: T-Mobile to offer Dash users free WM6 upgrade

If your smartphone of choice is the T-Mobile Dash, then this rumor is sure to put a smile to your face: T-Mobile will allegedly offer Windows Mobile 6 as a free download for Dash users, sometime this spring. WM6 brings some exciting new features to the table and it's nice to see at least one of the major carriers offering it to their customers as a courtesy, instead of milking them for all they're worth. Will T-Mobile extend this offer to other phones and more importantly, will other carriers follow suit? I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

BEST REGARDS

DASH IS MY BEST PROGRAM I EVER USED FOR MY PC.

NO OTHER COMMENT I HAVE

I just got the WM6 on my dash, i downloaded the beta version, its pretty good though. you got live search, windows live, windows update, and office mobile, which is ok. not what i thought it was going to be though. u can only view word documents, powerpoints, and excel spreadsheets. you cant actually create documents.

Yes....domi, but if you open a "BLANK" document you can Edit it in WM6

Domi-

Can't find a place to download - where did you get it?

These steps are done with Office 2003 because Office Mobile for Windows Mobile Standard devices does not support Office 2007 at this time.

1. Open Microsoft Word
2. Click File / Save As
3. Change the File Name to New Word Doc.dot
4. Click Save
5. Close Word
6. Open Windows Explorer and browse to the location where you save the file.
7. Right click on the file and select Properties
8. When the properties menu appears, click on Read-Only at the bottom of the window and then click OK
9. Copy the file
10. Connect your Windows Mobile device to your computer
11. Browse to the \My Documents folder and paste the document into this folder
12. On your Windows Mobile device, Launch Word from the Start Menu
13. Select "New Word Doc" from the open menu
14. Presto! You've got a new blank word document.

For creating a blank Excel sheet in WM6, do the same steps as a Word doc but make sure you save the file as 97-2003 Worksheet, as WM6 is only compatible with this extension and not the 2007 version. Works perfectly!
