We’ve all seen “leaked” photos, read insider reports and known that it’s been in the pipeline for a while now: Windows Mobile 6. Microsoft is finally ready to take the wraps off of its new mobile OS, with an announcement scheduled for Monday at 3GSM in Barcelona. Our own Brian Dolan of FierceWireless fame will be there, so do be sure to check out his live blogging of the event next week. Until then, here’s a list of new features to chew on:

  • Full HTML support for email
  • Updated Windows Live Messenger with file transfer support
  • Updated versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Remote wipe capability
  • Word 2007-style “ribbon” for Calendar
  • Updated versions of .NET Compact Framework and SQL Server

In keeping with Microsoft’s penchant for releasing a confusing number of versions of each product, Windows Mobile 6 will ship in “Standard,” “Professional” and “Classic” flavors. What, no Bill Gates-signed, limited edition version?
