Windows Mobile 6.1 in February?
October 22, 2007 — 6:59am ET
File this one under “unqualified rumor” for now: according to some reports that have been emerging in the tech blogosphere, we could be seeing a new version of Windows Mobile 6 by February. Pocketinfo.nl posted a story claiming that “a reliable source” has confirmed that version 6.1 of Windows Mobile will be unveiled at next year’s 3GSM conference. What’s new in 6.1? Apparently, a new feature in the UI called “carousel,” which allows you to scroll more easily to access features, as well as a number of minor bug fixes. Nothing too exciting to be sure, though it would be nice to have a stopover on the road to Windows Mobile 7, which is scheduled to ship in late 2008.
